Steenhuis Leads East Win
PORTLAND, Ore. — Put Buffalo Bandits midfielder Mark Steenhuis under the All-Star spotlight and watch him put on a show.
Steenhuis scored six goals and added an assist late Saturday night to help the East Division team, coached by Buffalo’s Darris Kilgour, to a 20-16 victory over the West before 12,856 at the Rose Garden in the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game.
Steenhuis became the first player ever to be named the game’s most valuable player for a second time. He compiled the same scoring line in 2004 game in Denver, which was his first All-Star appearance.
“It was just a great night,” said the 26-year-old Steenhuis, who now has 15 goals and 21 points in four All-Star appearances. “Having the opportunity to play with elite players you normally go against was just a pleasure. When the game got flowing I was just pretty much playing off [his teammates]. Luckily some went in.”
The Bandits’ John Tavares scored four goals and became the leading scorer in All-Star Game history. The 38-year-old now has 15 goals and 22 points in his six career appearances. Buffalo’s Pat McCready had a goal and an assist.
The Bandits (6-4), who are two games behind first-place Rochester (8-2) in the East, resume their season at 12:30 p.m. Saturday against the expansion New York Titans (2-8) at Madison Square Garden

To Whom It May Concern: BANDITS WIN!

Final Score:
Buffalo Bandits 16 vs Minnesota Swarm 15
After holding a 12-9 lead at halftime, the Swarm battled back but the Bandits were able to hold out for the win Sunday afternoon. John Tavares as expected was the star, scoring five of Buffalo's 16 goals. Goalie Nick Patterson was pulled when Buffalo held a 6-1 early lead and backup Matt Disher did a fine job as a replacement. The Bandits also replaced goalie Steve Deitrich with
Mike Thompson who did a fine job as well. One exciting story was the emergence of Minnesota forward Dean Hill who scored a suprising five goals. Buffalo (6-3) will play the New York Titans on March 17th at Madison Square Garden and the Bandits now move into second place in the east.

Pre-Game Swarm vs Bandits
Xcel Energy Center- St. Paul, Minnesota
Pat McCready was named transition player of the week and the Bandits hope that success will bring a win to the 5-4 Bandits tomorrow night when they take on the 5-3 Minnesota Swarm in St. Paul. The key to winning is shutting down star forward Ryan Ward who leads the team with 42 points in eight games. Another key is getting past goalie Matt Disher, who could get the start over the season starter, Nick Patterson. With a win, the Bandits would move into second place in the East just behind divison leading Rochester. In other news, forward John Tavares was named captian for the East in the NLL All-Star Game on March 10th. He is tied for second in league points with 60 and earlier this season, he was the first player in NLL history to reach 600 assists in a career. The game can be live fed through B2 live in the links section on Sunday @ 2pm GO BANDITS
